Supporters and members of the Action Alliance (AA) in Lokoja local government area were in high spirits on Monday at the grand finale campaign rally of Engr. Shehu Tijjani Amorley, the party’s flagbearer for the October 19 local government council election.
The rally took place at the Old Market open space in Lokoja, the state capital.
The party members and support groups were optimistic about the AA’s chances of winning the local government council election, scheduled for Saturday, October 19.
The campaign rally caused gridlocks on major roads in the Lokoja metropolis.
The venue was a spectacle, with supporters wearing customized party shirts, hats, and wrappers.
Ahead of the ceremony’s official start, the disc jockey (DJ) played melodious party songs, delighting the crowd.
Addressing the party faithful, the Director-General of the campaign, Hon. Yusuf Nagari, harped on the need for the people to vote for AA candidates, as he urged them to protect their votes at the poll.
He called on Lokoja LGA people to be vigilant and avoid a repeat of the rigging that denied them victory in the last election.
He said “I have come here to tell you not to allow any party steal your votes like they did last year.
“On our way coming we saw a lot of Lokoja people gathered to welcome us because AA has brought light to the LGA.
“Come out in your numbers on Saturday to vote our party’s candidate, Engr. Yusuf Nagari, as your chairman and the ten councilorship candidates and light will return to Lokoja LGA,” he stated.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the chairmanship candidate, Engr. Shehu Tijjani Amorley, promised to run an all-inclusive government if elected into office.
He said “Our government will give everyone a sense of belonging, irrespective of their tribe, religion or race.”
Amorley said if given the mandate, he would pursue an agenda for a secured future for the people of Lokoja LGA.
According to him, his SECURED future agenda entails security, educational advancement, community engagement, unity, rural transformation, economic transformation and development.
He pledged to harness the vast human and material resources Lokoja LGA was endowed with to move the council to enviable heights.
In his remarks, the Kogi State chairman of the party, Hon. Abdullahi Momoh enjoined the people to vote for the AA chairmanship and councilorship candidates for transformative leadership in Lokoja.
Momoh noted that a vote for the AA was a vote for an assured and prosperous future for the people.
