The Kogi State Ministry of Information on Tuesday commenced a media tour of ongoing and completed government projects across Kogi East Senatorial District.
The exercise, led by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, is aimed at showcasing the developmental strides of the state government in the region, while also providing firsthand assessment for journalists and media practitioners.
Notably, commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr, Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf and some directors and technical assistants whose ministries have relevant projects also joined the tour to give detailed explanations on the scope and impact of the projects under their supervision.
Their participation, according to officials, is to ensure that the media and the public receive accurate information on government investments in various sectors.
According to the ministry, the tour will cover key projects in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and rural development across various local government areas within Kogi East.
The initiative is designed to promote transparency and accountability in governance, as well as to keep the public adequately informed about government activities.
Speaking at the flag-off, the Commissioner for Information noted that the state government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has prioritized people-oriented projects, adding that the media remains a vital partner in bridging the gap between government and the public.
He assured that the present administration is committed to even distribution of projects across the state.
Representatives of major media organizations in the state and beyond are part of the delegation, with expectations that their independent reports will provide the public with accurate information on the impact of the projects.
Among the projects inspected were the newly constructed 10 kilometers dual carrage way from Abejikolo to Bagana, renovated hostel, staff quarters, motorized boreholes, in Kogi State College of Education Ankpa and erosion control.
Others are, healthcare facilities, rural electrification projects, and water supply schemes.
At Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, equipping of entrepreneurial skills acquisition workshop, renovation of College of Health Sciences and renovation of the Faculty of Basic medical sciences (Practical School) among others.
The team also visited some communities where bridge construction and erosion control works are ongoing.
The tour of Kogi East is expected to be followed by similar inspections in Kogi Central as that of Kogi West Senatorial Districts is ongoing.
