The Daratola Supportive Foundation has concluded arrangements to mark the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, scheduled to hold in Lokoja on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
The global day, observed annually on December 3, focuses on promoting the rights, dignity and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across all spheres of society.
In Lokoja, the Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event which is billed to take place by 10:00am at the Daratola Children Home, behind the former AEDC Regional Office, Tunde Ogbeha Road, GRA, Lokoja.
The theme for the 2025 celebration is: “Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies For Advancing Social Progress.” Dr. Mrs. P. F. Medupin is expected to deliver the lead presentation.
At the ceremony, Hajia Sefinat Ododo will receive a Special Merit Award in appreciation of her outstanding support for persons with disabilities in the state.
According to a statement signed by the Executive Director of Daratola Supportive Foundation, Mrs. Olaleye Toyin, the initiative is aimed at raising public consciousness on the need for stronger support systems and empowerment opportunities for PWDs.
The event is jointly organized by the Daratola Supportive Foundation in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, Office of the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Ministry of Women Affairs, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, and the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA).
Highlights will include inspection of facilities and goodwill messages from notable personalities such as the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, and Chief Mallam Momoh Dauda, General Manager, KGCSDA.
