A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has been honoured with a humanitarian award by the Kogi State APC Youth Wing at a colourful ceremony in Lokoja yesterday.
Speaking on the award, the APC Youth Leader, Muhammed Umar Muhammad, said the humanitarian award was in recognition of Bashir Gegu’s immense contribution to the political evolution of the state.
He said the APC Chieftain had also stamped his authority as a philanthropist whose philanthropic gesture knew no bound, adding that his contribution in all spheres of human endeavour would never be fairly judged by the verdict of history.
He said the APC Youth Wing saw the compelling need to reward the good riddance of those who had stamped their imprimatur for the society to grow, pointing out that one had to meet the group’s criteria before he or she was conferred with the humanitarian award.
In his remarks, the APC chieftain said the award had inspired him to take the bull by the horns in putting his best to develop his community well, pointing out that achieving the feat entailed a great deal of commitment, courage and absolute sacrifice.
Bashir Gegu thanked the APC Youth Wing for honouring him, saying that it had come at a time when he was not expecting it as he was yet to be satisfied with the contribution he had made.
In an interview, shortly after the award ceremony, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja LGA, Hon. Bala Justice lauded Bashir Gegu for bagging humanitarian award.
Bala Justice said that the conferment of the award to the APC Chieftain by APC Youth Wing was another strong indication that the much-talked about Bashir Gegu’s philanthropic service was after all not a fluke.
While congratulating him on what he described as “a well deserved award”, disclosed that the honour only confirmed further that the APB leader had done so well.
