*** Vote of No Confidence Passed on Yunusa-led Exco, Resolution Forwarded to the Maigari of Lokoja

The Lokoja International Market Traders Association has appointed Mr. Hassan Manager as the new Caretaker Chairman following the dissolution of the Yunusa-led executive committee over alleged constitutional breaches and overstaying of tenure.
The decision came after a vote of no confidence was unanimously passed on the former leadership during an emergency meeting of traders held at the market pavilion on Saturday.
Members accused the dissolved executive of remaining in office beyond the constitutional tenure, failing to organize elections, and neglecting their obligations to the association.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, traders resolved to constitute a caretaker leadership to manage the affairs of the association pending the conduct of fresh elections.
The decision was subsequently transmitted to the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, for royal acknowledgment and guidance.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Hassan Manager expressed gratitude to the traders for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to serve with fairness and integrity.
“I am deeply honored by this trust and responsibility,” he said.
“The Lokoja International Market is the economic heartbeat of our community, and together we shall restore unity, discipline, and accountability.
My administration will prioritize the welfare of every trader, ensure transparency in market affairs, and work tirelessly to bring lasting peace and order.”
He further assured that his caretaker committee would liaise with relevant authorities and stakeholders to address pressing issues within the market and prepare the ground for credible elections within the stipulated timeframe.
Some traders who spoke at the event described the development as a positive turning point for the association, praising the peaceful and democratic manner in which the leadership transition was handled.
The Lokoja International Market remains one of the busiest commercial hubs in Kogi State, drawing traders and buyers from within and outside the North Central region.
