Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Sunny Ewule, cautioning him against holding meetings or making official calls without his approval.
The governor stated that the office of the Chief of Staff is strictly that of his personal aide and must operate directly under his authority.
Fubara emphasized that the position does not grant the Chief of Staff the liberty to independently summon individuals or organize meetings without seeking his permission.
âYouâre working under me. This position, youâre my personal aide, and itâs not a position for you to start holding meetings and calling people without my permission,â the governor said.
He also warned against involvement in secret or late-night meetings, stressing that such actions could lead to immediate dismissal.
âIf you involve yourself in nocturnal meetings, Iâll sack you, and Iâm very serious,â the governor added.
The governor further stressed the importance of discipline, loyalty, and clear communication within his administration, noting that every official must understand the limits of their responsibilities.
According to him, the Chief of Staffâs role is primarily to coordinate the activities of the governorâs office and ensure that directives from the governor are properly implemented.
Fubara also advised the new Chief of Staff to focus on supporting the administrationâs policies and programmes rather than engaging in activities that could create confusion within government circles.
He reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and proper administrative conduct, urging all political appointees and government officials to work strictly in line with established procedures.
