The late Dan Buram of Lokoja, Alhaji Ismael Abdulkarim, was on Wednesday buried at the Markaz Cemetery, Lokoja, amid tears and prayers from families and well wishers.
Late Abdulkarim was buried after a Janazah prayer conducted by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sha’aban.
He died in the early hours of Wednesday at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja, at the age of 72.
The funeral prayer was attended by the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, Kogi State House of Assembly member representing Lokoja 1 State Constituency, Hon. Bin Ebaiya Tijjani Shehu, Islamic clerics, friends and sympathisers.
Speaking, the Chief Imam, said that the deceased was a detribalised Nigerian who worked tirelessly to ensure unity among the Muslim community.
Sheikh Shaban prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased paradise and give the family the fortitude to bear the lost.
On his part, the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, extolled the virtues of the late Dan Buram, describing him as a philanthropist of philanthropists, who served the poor and also helped the rich during his lifetime.
“He served the poor and helped the rich. He came to serve humanity and served them to his very last.
“He was accommodating, spiritual, religious and intelligent. He had been serving the poor from the age of 19. He was the greatest philanthropist of our time.
“Ismaeel Abdulkarim gave everything he had for the benefit of the people’’, the royal father added.
