It was a day of joy and celebration on Saturday as Alhaji Gambo Bala Umar, a retired Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Lokoja Local Government Area, gave out the hand of his daughter, Amina Umar, in marriage to Musa Muhammed in a colourful and well-attended ceremony.
The wedding Fatiha took place at the Umar family residence in Kabawa, Lokoja, Kogi State, and was conducted by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, alongside other notable Islamic clerics who offered prayers for the success of the marriage.
In accordance with Islamic tradition, a dowry of ₦100,000 was paid by the representative of the groom to the Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Danladi Faruq, who stood as father of the bride during the ceremony.
The payment symbolized the formal union between the two families and fulfilled the requirements of Islamic marital rites.
The event attracted top politicians, government officials, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and community leaders, including the representative of the Maigari of Lokoja, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Joseph, the Roggan of Eggan, Alhassan Umar and the Sofada of Lokoja, Alhaji Danladi Barazana, among others.
The Roggan of Eggan, in his goodwill message, congratulated the newly wedded couple and offered special prayers for a blissful and peaceful home.
He advised them to build their marriage on the foundations of love, patience, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Similarly, the Sofada of Lokoja, Alhaji Danladi Barazana, who is a close friend of the bride’s father, also offered heartfelt advice and prayers for the couple.
He urged them to uphold the values of unity and faith in their marital journey and to always support each other through life’s challenges.
In his remarks, the groom, Musa Muhammed, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting him the opportunity to marry his beloved wife, Amina.
He appreciated everyone who came to grace the occasion and promised not to disappoint the family of his new wife.
He vowed to love, protect, and respect her in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Several dignitaries who spoke during the event commended both families for organizing a peaceful and well-coordinated ceremony.
They urged the couple to always seek Allah’s guidance and make understanding the cornerstone of their marriage.
The father of the bride, Alhaji Gambo Bala Umar, expressed deep joy and gratitude to Allah for witnessing his daughter’s marriage in good health.
He thanked friends, relatives, and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to honour the invitation, praying for divine blessings upon them.
He described marriage as a sacred institution that demands patience, prayers, and mutual understanding, urging the couple to live together in peace and harmony.
The event featured prayers, cultural displays, and joyful celebrations, as family members, friends, and associates exchanged pleasantries and goodwill messages.
Guests were also treated to a variety of refreshments in a convivial atmosphere.
The ceremony ended with special prayers for the couple, their families, and all attendees, as everyone departed with smiles and words of congratulations.
