Islamic School Founded by Late Rep Umar Buba Jibril Holds 8th Walimatul Qur’an in Lokoja

The Hon. Umar Buba Jibril Qur’anic and Islamic School has held its 8th edition of Walimatul Qur’an in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The event, which also featured Maulud Nabiyyi and a graduation ceremony, took place at the Buba Jibril family compound in the 200 Housing Unit area of Gadumo, Lokoja.

It was well attended by Islamic scholars, community leaders, parents, students and well-wishers.

A total of 23 students were graduated during the programme after successfully completing their Qur’anic and Islamic studies.

The ceremony was marked by recitations from the Holy Qur’an, Islamic lectures and special prayers.

In his opening speech, the chairman of the occasion, Alifa Arif Yabagi, commended the founder of the school, the late Rep Umar Buba Jibril, for establishing the institution, describing it as a lasting contribution to Islamic education and moral development.

He also praised the school management for sustaining the vision of the late lawmaker and advised the graduating students to uphold the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives.

In his remarks, the chairman of the school, Alhaji Ali Danlami Ibrahim, appealed to philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the school.

He disclosed that the parade ground where the ceremony took place was donated by the late Rep Umar Buba Jibril, noting that nothing significant had been done on the land since then.

He called on philanthropists to assist in building classrooms and other facilities for the school.

Ibrahim further commended parents for their support, advised the graduating students to remain disciplined, and thanked all those who came to grace the occasion.

Also speaking, the principal of the school, Ustaz Muhammed Yusuf Alfa, commended the late Rep Umar Buba Jibril for his foresight and commitment to Islamic education.

He advised the graduating students to remain steadfast in their studies and good character, and appreciated all guests who attended the ceremony.

The late Rep Umar Buba Jibril was a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency until his death on March 30, 2018.

The Maulud Nabiyyi segment featured praises of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and sermons emphasizing peace, discipline and service to humanity, as organisers reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining his legacy through Qur’anic and Islamic education.
