The member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sulaiman Danladi Aguye, has appealed to his constituents to exercise patience as he rolls out developmental projects across the constituency.
Hon. Aguye, who spoke to newsmen in Gegu during the naming ceremony of the newly born baby of Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, outlined some of the projects he plans to execute soon, assuring that the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency would begin to feel the impact of his representation in the coming months.
While acknowledging the yearnings of the people for urgent development, the lawmaker pleaded for understanding, noting that proper planning and consultations are ongoing to ensure that his projects are people-oriented and sustainable.
According to him, projects in the areas of education, rural electrification, health care, water supply, youth empowerment, and road rehabilitation are already captured in his plans, with emphasis on communities that have been neglected over the years.
He added that his office is in touch with various federal agencies to facilitate intervention projects that would complement state and local government efforts.
Aguye also reminded his constituents of the numerous projects he had embarked upon in the past, including the renovation of schools, sinking of boreholes in rural communities, installation of solar-powered streetlights, support for health centers, and several empowerment schemes for women and youths.
These, he said, are clear indications of his commitment to the development of Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas.
“I am committed to delivering dividends of democracy to our people. Some projects are already in the pipeline, and very soon, you will begin to see them take off. I only plead with our people to be patient, as meaningful development requires time and careful planning,” Aguye said.
The lawmaker also used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and reforms, stressing that the President’s policies are geared towards repositioning Nigeria’s economy despite the current challenges facing the country.
He noted that with continuous support and patience from Nigerians, the benefits of the reforms would be felt in due course.
Meanwhile, several constituents who attended the ceremony commended Hon. Aguye for what they described as quality representation at the National Assembly.
They praised him for remaining close to the grassroots and for ensuring that his projects touch different communities, irrespective of political affiliations.
One community leader, Alhaji Yakubu Usman, who spoke at the event said, “Hon. Aguye has shown that representation is about service, not just politics. From water projects to educational support, his presence has been felt, and we are confident more is still coming.”
Another youth leader from Gegu also described the lawmaker as a “grassroots politician who listens to the people,” adding that his calm and consultative style of leadership has brought hope to the constituency.
On the naming ceremony, Aguye congratulated Engr. Bashir Gegu, who is also the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, on the birth of his child.
He prayed for the baby to grow in good health and wisdom, and lauded the commissioner for his contributions to the progress of the state and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event, which attracted dignitaries, political leaders, and community members, was described as not only a family celebration but also a gathering that showcased unity and solidarity among the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
