Supreme Court Verdict: Heroic Welcome For Muritala Ajaka As Mammoth Crowd Storms Ayangba Streets

It was heroic homecoming for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), governorship candidate in the Kogi State November 11 gubernatorial election, Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, as thousands of sons and daughters of Igalaland trooped out to welcome him and express gratitude for his struggles during and after the election.

In what they described as a celebration of “joy,” indigenes and residents of Ayangba in Dekina local government area of Kogi State, on Friday thronged  the streets to cheer Ajaka.

With loud cheers, the jubilant residents heaped praises on him over his  dogged struggles at the election tribunals, with different groups performing with their masquerades amid the thick crowd that thronged the streets.

When Ajaka’s convoy arrived at Ajaka is country home, enthusiastic and proud residents were seen waving at their kinsman in excitement.

As the convoy journeyed deeper into the heart of Ajaka, the town erupted in jubilation as Muritala Ajaka’s kinsmen who were adorned in ceremonial attire, accompanied by drums and trumpets, danced along the streets.

Recall that supreme court recently affirmed Ahmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected governor of Kogi state.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, a five-member panel dismissed the appeal filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Murtala Ajaka, its governorship candidate.
