It was glamour, royalty, and celebration in Anyagba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday as dignitaries and traditional rulers stormed the palace of the Ogohi of Anyagba, His Royal Highness Abuh Shaibu Okolo, to witness the historic coronation of Comrade Isah Daniel with the revered title of Omachi Ogohi Onu Anyagba.
The palace arena was filled with color and excitement as men and women adorned in rich cultural attire thronged the venue, dancing to the sounds of traditional drums and flutes in honor of the new titleholder.
The ceremony showcased the strength of Igala culture and the value placed on distinguished sons of the land.
Comrade Daniel, who comes from the Ogbajele dynasty of Anyagba, is a seasoned politician and grassroots mobilizer.
He currently serves as the National Deputy Director Organizing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is remembered for his outstanding role as the Director General of the Audu/Faleke Campaign Organization, which shaped the political landscape of Kogi State in recent years.
In his address, the Ogohi of Anyagba, Abuh Shaibu Okolo, said the conferment of the title was not only a recognition of Comrade Daniel’s political achievements but also a call to greater service.
He urged the new Omachi Ogohi to see the honor as a covenant with his people and to redouble his efforts in supporting development initiatives.
The coronation was attended by a host of dignitaries including the former Senator that represented Kogi East, Senator Dangana Ocheja, top political leaders from within and outside Kogi State, captains of industry, youth and women leaders, as well as royal fathers from neighboring communities.
Many who spoke described Comrade Daniel as a bridge-builder whose humility and service to humanity had earned him the honor.
Delivering his appreciation speech, Comrade Daniel expressed deep gratitude to the Ogohi of Anyagba, the Ogbajele dynasty, and the entire community for finding him worthy of the title.
He dedicated the honor to the people, pledging to continue working for peace, unity, and the progress of Anyagba and Kogi State.
He recalled his long years of political struggle and service, stressing that the coronation would further strengthen his resolve to contribute to the wellbeing of the people at both the local and national levels.
He promised to use his office and networks within the APC to bring more opportunities to the grassroots.
The occasion was further enlivened by cultural performances, royal blessings, and symbolic rituals that highlighted the rich heritage of the Igala Kingdom.
Traditional troupes thrilled the audience with songs and dances, while community women presented gifts as a sign of support and goodwill to the newly crowned Omachi.
Immediately after the beading and coronation, a grand reception was held at CMML Anyagba, where dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate with Comrade Daniel.
The reception provided an avenue for merriment as guests were treated to music, food, and entertainment in an atmosphere of camaraderie and joy.
Observers noted that the conferment of the title on Comrade Daniel was a testament to the enduring bond between tradition and modern leadership, showing that even in politics, cultural institutions play a vital role in shaping and strengthening the society.
The day’s events ended with prayers for peace and prosperity in Anyagba, Dekina, and Kogi State as a whole.
