Members of the Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group, Yagba Federal Constituency has condemned the gang – up against Hon Leke Abejide by desperate politicians in a press conference at Lokoja today 18/12/2024.
According to Chief Asaje, an elder statesman from Yagba Federal Constituency, stressed that the recent choreographed gang-up and attack on Hon Leke Abejide by some known elements portray the hypocrisy that undermine Nigeria politics and it can be likened to the enemies of Yagba progress.
Chief Asaje in a statement, noted that the new gang-up plot against Hon. Leke Abejide was first hatched when news of his collaboration /cordiality with Governor Usman Ododo were revealed.
“However, a closer examination reveals that such efforts are likely to falter, undermine by strategic miscalculation.
“In contrast, the political gang up lacks a coherent strategy beyond mere enemies/opposition to Leke’s Abejide ascendancy.
“Over the years, Hon Leke Abejide has weathered numerous challenges and emerged stronger from each encounter.
“Today, hardly any day passes since the emergency of Leke Abejide second term as House of Representatives Member without one reading one diatribe or the other sponsored to run down Hon Leke Abejide.
“It is too early to start discussing on who becomes the next House of Representatives Member. The timing is wrong, whether it is express attack or innuendos by one diaspora politicians sponsoring hate – filled meetings. One thing runs through them all, palpable indignation , and bitterness, Chief opined.
Hon Leke Abejide has done well for his people and empowered them individually… Saying that Hon Leke Abejide should not be allowed for 3rd term makes it messy. We know those who are weaving perfidy and whipping up sentiments behind the scene to make himself speaker of House..
Ironically, Hon Leke Abejide already had many years of experience in grassroots politicking and can be cited anywhere as an example of quality representation..Hon Leke’s political longavity is a testament to his resilience and adaptability.
A quick glance at history reveals that the APC party has given Mopa- Amuro ticket twice (consecutively) to fly the party flag for House of Representatives, yet they could not make it. Whose fault?
The gang – up is not about the ordinary people of yagba land .. lt is evidently about the selfish interests of a few.. Let no one be deceived.
“There is no other House of Representatives member that has paid WAEC fees for both public and private schools , donated vehicles to all the traditional rulers, provision of Jamb centre, and graded all the minor roads like Hon Leke Abejide. We have noticed with admiration the emphasis of his capital development.
“From the foregoing and more, it is therefore clear that the sudden bitterness, antagonism, anger, and demonization have absolutely nothing to do with Leke’s performances in office. It is about Leke’s refusal to act the greedy script of those against him.
“We urged the Leadership of APC party, kogi state , meaningful individuals not to be distracted by what we can described as well- funded demonization against Hon Leke Abejide.
“What a politically motivated gang up launched by “interests operating from the shadows since they observed that Hon Leke Abejide is supporting Governor Ododo’s government wholeheartedly and all through the court crisis.
“That is the jaundiced and reprobate mentality driving the war against Hon Leke Abejide.. They have paid them to organize a press conference/propaganda, do they think such can work? CAPITAL NO.
“Hon Leke Abejide is focusing strongly on goals and conscientiously weeding the obstacles.. He will continue to push on despite gang -up from some quarters eyeing to be Speaker of the House.
Chief Asaje urged Governor Ododo, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore the rantings of unpatriotic elements working hand-in- hand to spread falsehood tarnished the good representation the people are enjoying in yagba Federal Constituency.
Hon Leke Abejide ability to forge alliances, political landscapes, and mobilize support reflects a deep understanding of modern politics.
As we prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle, Leke’s influence is poised to remain a defining force in kogi/yagba politics.
