Four on the Run as Kogi PDP Chairman Petitions Authorities Over Impersonation, Seeks State Intervention

Four persons are reportedly on the run as security agencies commence investigations following a petition filed by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, alleging impersonation, defamation and attempts to instigate a breakdown of law and order in the state.

The petition, titled “Petition Against Enemona Anyebe, Umoru Tijani Aruwa, Abubakar Yusuf, Sule Garba, Muktar Communication, Over Impersonation, Maligning My Reputation and Attempt to Create Breakdown of Law and Order In the State,” was addressed to relevant state authorities and security agencies.

In the strongly worded petition, Hon. Gambo, who was affirmed as the duly elected PDP Chairman by a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja on October 11, 2025, accused the named individuals and a media outfit of orchestrating a sustained campaign to undermine his office through impersonation and defamatory publications.

According to the petition, Enemona Anyebe, Umoru Tijani Aruwa, Abubakar Yusuf, Sule Garba, and Muktar Communication allegedly engaged in impersonating the PDP leadership on social media, issuing insulting statements and using derogatory language aimed at discrediting the Chairman and bringing the party’s leadership into disrepute.

The petition specifically cited a recent incident in which Umoru Tijani Aruwa, identified as the PDP State Public Relations Officer, circulated a Christmas message that allegedly questioned Hon. Gambo’s legitimacy as Chairman.

It further alleged that Enemona Anyebe, working with recruited social media influencers, repeatedly used uncomplimentary descriptions to malign the Chairman’s character and authority.

Hon. Gambo warned that the continued harassment and alleged threats posed a serious risk to peace and stability in the state, noting that such actions could provoke reactions from his supporters and other party members, thereby escalating tensions amid Kogi State’s fragile security situation.

“In the interest of public peace and the rule of law, it is imperative that these acts are checked promptly,” the Chairman reportedly stated, stressing that unchecked impersonation and misinformation could lead to avoidable unrest.

The petition called for urgent intervention and decisive action by law enforcement agencies against the following individuals and entities:

Umoru Tijani Aruwa
Abubakar Yusuf
Sule Garba
Muktar Communication
Screenshots of alleged impersonation posts and statements were attached to the petition, including materials in which Enemona Anyebe was reportedly portrayed as “Chairman” and other publications containing disparaging remarks against Hon. Gambo.

The PDP Chairman concluded by urging authorities to act swiftly to prevent further deterioration of peace and security in Kogi State, as investigations by security agencies are said to be ongoing.
