Former political office holders in Lokoja Local Government Area met with the newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the area, Hon. Jibril Kasim Idris, pledging their full cooperation to support his tenure.
The meeting was held at the Children’s Amusement Park, Lokoja, on Monday.
The group, led by Hon. Musa Abdullahi Adakeke, congratulated Idris on his election and assured him of their readiness to work with him to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in Lokoja LGA.
Adakeke also commended Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam and other APC leaders for their support in ensuring the emergence of the new chairman.
In their remarks at the meeting, Hon. Gimba Tanimu, former councilor representing Ward ‘B’, and Hon. Musa Ladan, former councilor of Ward ‘C’, congratulated Idris, fondly called Aloma, and thanked all the APC leaders who stood behind the new party chairman.
They stressed that the collective efforts of party stalwarts had paved the way for a smooth transition and a strengthened leadership structure in Lokoja LGA.
The former officials also appealed to Idris to use his position to lobby the Kogi State Government to settle the backlog of arrears owed to them by previous administrations, emphasizing that addressing these financial obligations would boost morale and encourage continued political engagement among former office holders.
Responding, Hon. Idris expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to engage with relevant authorities to address their concerns.
He assured the former office holders that their welfare and recognition would remain a priority during his tenure.
Idris also highlighted his plans to strengthen party structures, promote youth involvement, and encourage transparency and accountability in all party activities.
Speaking further, the APC chairman encouraged unity among all members, saying that the future success of the party in Lokoja LGA would depend on teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect among leaders at all levels.
He called on both current and former office holders to serve as mentors to younger party members to ensure continuity of the party’s vision and mission.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all parties reaffirming their determination to work together to advance the interests of the APC in Lokoja Local Government Area.
Attendees expressed optimism that with strong leadership and collective commitment, the party would achieve significant milestones in the local government area in the coming years.
