… As Maigari lauds Gov Ododo for prompt payment of workers salary

As part of activities to mark this year Eid-El Kabir, the Lokoja Traditional Title Holders Council in collaboration with Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council on Monday held Sallah Hawan Bariki/Parade Durbar Picnic.
The ceremony was held at Muhammadu Buhari Square, Lokoja.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Lokoja Traditional Title Holders Council, Senator Tunde Ogbeh, who was represented by the Sodangi of Lokoja, Barrister Shaba Ibrhim, told the mammoth gathering that the Council, decided to hold the Parade Durbar Picnic “in our true tradition to rejoice with our Maigari and the people of Lokoja.
He noted that Lokoja is blessed to have someone like Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Maikafi as the Maigari of Lokoja, according to him, ” on behalf of all the the traditional title holders in Lokoja expressed appreciation to all those indigenes who graciously attended this programme”, he said.
Sen. Ogbeha further stressed the need for given maximum support and cooperation to the Maigari of Lokoja, saying that he was very happy that the event attracted all the people from Lokoja community and all the traditional title holders from Lokoja and neighbouring areas in Kogi state.
In his own remarks, the Maigari commended the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the prompt payment of June salary to enable Muslims celebrate Sallah.
He said the governor’s constructive and eminently positive attitude to work and socio-political issues makes him a testament to the desirable quality of leadership.
The monarch added that governor Ododo has never defaulted in the payment of salaries and pension, which he pays on or before 26th of every month.
He urged communities across Lokoja to embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
He said; “As custodians of culture and peace, it is our role to advise our subjects and other Nigerians on the need to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of our ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
“This is because peace is priceless, non-negotiable and a necessary requirement for the development of any society.
“No society can achieve meaningful progress without peace. So, we must embrace peace at all times for development to thrive in our state,’’ he said.
He also urged the people of the state to give their maximum support to leaders at all levels to enable them to succeed in the task ahead of them.
Highlight of the ceremony was cultural dance, paying of homage to the Maigari by traditional title holders, traders and Hakimis.
