The Chigarin Lokoja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ahmed Muhammad Sanusi, on Monday evening hosted Muslims to a dinner at his GRA residence in Lokoja.
The dinner was attended by top government officials, Islamic clerics, traditional title holders, Hakimis and community leaders.
The Chigari urged Muslims in the state and Nigeria to emulate Prophet Ibrahim during this Eid-el-Kabir.
Sanusi told Muslims to see everyone as members of the same human family irrespective of their religious faith and sacrifice for all to live together in peace and unity in every part of the country.
He said the Eid-el-Kabir was really “a true reminder for everyone to live for others and not to be self-centered”, adding that peace is when people sacrifice their anger and grievances to allow for peaceful coexistence.
“On this blessed day, I join all Muslim faithful to rejoice in the spirit of unity, compassion, and gratitude. Let’s imbibe the principles of peace, love, and service to humanity.
“I wish everyone a joyous Eid-el-Kabir, filled with happiness, peace, and harmony. May this special day bring us closer to our faith, loved ones, and nation at large,” he said.
He urged Lokojans at home and in the Diaspora, to continue to be united, as well as be their brother’s keepers’ for the area to move forward.
The Chigari said that, “it is only when the people of the domain are united that we can forge ahead and foster the socio economic development of Lokoja kingdom, Kogi State and indeed Nigeria,
“We must all unite to bring speedy development to Lokoja Kingdom and to as well attract good things to the area,” he said.
