Danman of Lokoja Gives Out Late Brother’s Daughter, Malama Hajara, in Marriage to Usman

It was a joyful and memorable occasion in Lokoja on Saturday as the Danman of Lokoja, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammed Baba, gave out the hand of his late brother’s daughter, Malama Hajara Gambo Sulaiman, in marriage to Isah Usman.

The wedding Fatiha, held at the Danman family residence in Shabayagi, Lokoja, on Saturday was officiated by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, alongside other notable Islamic clerics who offered prayers for the success of the marriage.

During the ceremony, a daury (bride price) of ₦100,000 was paid by the representatives of the groom’s family — a gesture that was received with joy and gratitude by the bride’s family and witnesses.

The colorful event attracted a large turnout of dignitaries, including the representative of the Maigari of Lokoja, the Sardauna Kakanda, Dr. Tijjani Aliyu, members of the Danko Development Forum (DDF), the Hakimis of Ward B and C, politicians, Islamic clerics, and several traditional title holders.

Friends, family members, and well-wishers also attended to share in the joy of the day.

In his remarks, the Danman of Lokoja, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammed Baba, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the success of the ceremony and thanked all guests for gracing the occasion.

He prayed for the newly wedded couple, asking Allah to bless their home with love, patience, and understanding.

A highlight of the ceremony was the recitation of selected verses from the Holy Qur’an, focusing on love, unity, and marital harmony — all recited to bless the couple and guide them in their new journey together.

Guests at the event also offered special prayers for the couples, asking Almighty Allah to grant them happiness, peace, and fruitful companionship throughout their marriage.

Speaking after the ceremony, the groom, Isah Usman, expressed appreciation to all who attended and supported the family.

He thanked the Danman of Lokoja for his fatherly role and guidance and promised not to disappoint his newly wedded wife.

He also pledged to build their home on the values of love, respect, and trust.

The bride, Malama Hajara Gambo Sulaiman, beaming with joy, thanked Allah for the success of the occasion and appreciated the Danman of Lokoja for standing in as a father figure after the demise of her late father.

She also extended gratitude to friends, relatives, and well-wishers for their prayers, encouragement, and support.

Community members described the Danman of Lokoja as a pillar of support and a unifying figure, noting that his leadership and compassion have continued to promote peace and togetherness in Shabayagi and beyond.

The event was further enlivened by traditional music, prayers, and blessings from elders and clerics who admonished the couple to build their union on faith, patience, and mutual understanding.

Refreshments were served after the Fatiha, and guests exchanged warm greetings while celebrating with the families.
