The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Aliyu Umar, and the member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, on Wednesday joined other dignitaries to attend the 8-day Fidau prayer for the late Hajiya Amina Ebaiya.
Hajiya Amina Ebaiya was the mother of Hon. Shehu Tijjani Bin Ebaiya, member representing Lokoja I State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The prayer session, held at the family residence in the Karaworo area of Lokoja, attracted Islamic clerics, political leaders, family members, friends, and sympathisers, all gathered to pray for the repose of her soul.
Dignitaries in attendance included all members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Danladi Faruq, as well as other top politicians and Islamic clerics.
Leading the prayers, the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, reminded the faithful of life’s inevitability and urged them to live righteous lives according to Islamic teachings.
He emphasized that while life is temporary, prayers and good deeds from loved ones continue to benefit the departed.
The event featured recitations from the Holy Qur’an by Islamic scholars and clerics, who offered special prayers for Hajiya Amina Ebaiya.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Barrister Sayadi Ebaiya expressed gratitude to all who attended and wished them safe journeys back to their destinations.
He also commended journalists covering the events since her passing.
Other speakers who spoke to NationalWatch TV prayed for the repose of Hajiya Amina Ebaiya and also remembered her son, Hon. Shehu Tijjani Bin Ebaiya, asking Allah to grant them both mercy and blessings.
In a condolence message, the Maigari of Lokoja, Dr. Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, represented by the Maiyaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal Jiya, prayed for the repose of her soul and strength for the family to bear their loss.
Other speakers joined in praying for Hajiya Amina Ebaiya, asking Allah to grant her forgiveness, mercy, and Aljannatul Firdaus, and to grant the family patience and resilience during this difficult time.
