Pupils of Rukaiya Kutepa Islamic Memorial School, located at Karaworo in Lokoja, Kogi State, reveled in excitement on Saturday as they celebrated their first graduation with a vibrant funfair.
The event featured the presentation of substantial prizes to the valedictorian and salutatorian of each class.
Dressed in their finest attire, the children enjoyed a delightful atmosphere of music and engaging competitions.
Accompanied by their parents, the children expressed gratitude to the school management for organizing such a memorable event, which served as a well-deserved break following a demanding academic term.
Several parents interviewed by NationalWatch Tv expressed their appreciation for the occasion, noting that it provided an opportunity for parents to connect with one another and interact with the school teachers.
They also encouraged the school management to continue hosting award events like this, as they inspire students to engage in academic competitions in pursuit of recognition.
Chairman of the event, Hon. Sulaiman Babanda, commended the management for arranging such a colourful event and expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their positive influence on his daughter’s academic journey.
He stated, “This event holds a special place in my heart, as my daughter transitions from primary six to secondary school. It brings us joy and excitement to witness our children grow from kindergarten to nursery, primary, and now college.”
Babanda also emphasized the importance of awards for children, stating, “This ceremony holds great significance. When you receive recognition for excellence, it ignites a passion to achieve more. I am product of such a system, and I always eagerly anticipate award days because they come with a certain glamour that makes you want to strive for more. Thus, this ceremony plays a crucial role in the educational development of our children.”
In her welcome address, Head Teacher of the school, Malama Hauwa Haruna Naibi, described the event as a moment of reflection, celebration, and rededication.
“This institution has served as a beacon of knowledge, a nurturing ground for thousands of young minds who have gone on to impact society remarkably,” she said.
“To our graduating students, I say — as you move into the next phase, carry with you the values of perseverance, integrity, and compassion. Let your time here shape your future choices.”
She expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Government for their continuous upliftment of school. Staff, parents, and students for their unwavering commitment to sustaining the school’s standard.
She noted that the achievements of the past years should inspire all stakeholders to look to the future with renewed energy and focus.
Zainab Umar 10-year-old pupil of the school, expressed her elation at being among the recipients of multiple prizes for her outstanding performance in science subjects. She shared, “I am thrilled. I have been attending this school since kindergarten.
