The Kakanda Kingdom has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of its paramount ruler, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Gimba, the Agankyu of Kakanda.
According to palace sources, the revered monarch died today on his way back from Niger State, after reportedly taking ill during the trip.
His sudden passing has thrown the entire Kakanda land into shock and deep sorrow.
Alhaji Muhammad Sani Gimba was highly respected for his humility, fatherly disposition, and unwavering commitment to unity, peace, and cultural preservation.
His reign was characterized by fairness, wisdom, and a sustained effort to maintain harmony among all communities under his authority.
Community elders described him as a rare leader who worked tirelessly to strengthen ties between Kakanda and neighboring ethnic groups.
His role in promoting peaceful coexistence and resolving communal disputes earned him admiration far beyond Kakanda land.
The late Agankyu was also a strong advocate for youth development, frequently encouraging education, empowerment, and responsible citizenship.
Many young people across Kakanda credit him for inspiring them to pursue meaningful careers and community service.
Political leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries across Kogi State have begun sending condolence messages, praising the late monarchâs dedication to progress, cultural values, and the well-being of his people.
Residents have already begun gathering at the palace to express their grief, while traditional chiefs and family members hold consultations on the next steps.
As at the time of filing this report, burial arrangements have not yet been announced, but an official statement is expected soon from the palace.
