It was a day of gratitude and solemn reflection in Lokoja on Sunday as Barrister Abu Jibril Dardau, a newly qualified lawyer, organized a special prayer to commemorate his call to the Nigerian Bar.
The event, held at his family residence in Kwuakwua-Hanguwan Kura Street in Lokoja, drew dignitaries, Islamic clerics, relatives, and close associates of his late father, popularly known as Jibril Dardau.
The prayer session was chaired by Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, was a long-time friend of the late Dardau.
In his remarks, CP Sanusi, who spoke in Hausa language, described Barrister Dardau’s success as a source of pride for the community. “Seeing Dardau called to the Bar is a testimony to the discipline and upbringing instilled by his late father. I have no doubt he will grow into a lawyer of repute, guided by honesty and justice,” the police commissioner said.
Islamic clerics led the prayers, asking Allah to guide the new barrister in his career. Sheikh Muhammad Abdullahi, one of the clerics, prayed: “May Allah bless him with knowledge, patience, and wisdom to stand firm for the truth. We also pray for the repose of his father’s soul, that Allah forgives his shortcomings and admits him into Aljannah Firdaus.”
Family members, overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, thanked guests for their support.
An elder brother of the celebrant, Barrister Muhammed Sanni Inuwa, who is also the Kogi State Vice Chairman of the NBA said: “His late father always dreamed of seeing Dardau achieve greatness.
Though he is not here with us, we believe he would have been the happiest man today. We are grateful to everyone who has come to honor his memory and celebrate Dardau’s success.”
Friends and associates of the late Jibril Dadau also paid glowing tributes.
A childhood friend of the family, Alhaji Musa Tanimu Nasidi, remarked: “Jibril Dardau was a man of the people, generous and committed to fairness. His son is walking in his footsteps. We will continue to support him in this journey.”
Guests at the event, which included traditional leaders, professionals, and family friends, expressed delight at Barrister Dardau’s achievement, urging him to use the legal profession to defend the weak and contribute to societal progress.
The event ended with goodwill messages, light refreshments, and heartfelt recollections of the late Jibril Dardau’s life, leaving many guests convinced that Barrister Dardau’s success is a continuation of a legacy of integrity and service.
