A group under the aegis of Ajaokuta Progressive Stakeholders (APS) has said that the growing popularity and performance of the member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, has unsettled his political opponents.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, and signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Omeiza Sadiku, the group noted that the lawmaker’s achievements and increasing influence within the constituency have continued to attract widespread support from the people.
According to APS, Hon. Abdulraheem has carried out projects and initiatives that previous representatives of the constituency were unable to accomplish, adding that his style of representation has brought renewed hope and visible development to the area.
The group maintained that the lawmaker’s performance, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of his constituents have strengthened his political standing, making him a formidable figure in Ajaokuta Federal Constituency.
APS further alleged that some individuals who feel threatened by his rising profile are spreading misinformation in an attempt to discredit him.
“We believe they are afraid of Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem’s rising profile because he has done what past representatives could not achieve. The people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency can see and feel the impact of his representation,” the group stated.
The group also dismissed speculations about the emergence of a “third force” in the constituency, insisting that the political landscape remains clearly defined.
“We still maintain that there is no third term for anybody in Ajaokuta Federal Constituency. The people know where they stand and who is working for them,” the statement added.
The group further stressed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajaokuta cannot afford to ignore what it described as emerging warning signs within the party.
According to APS, the youth and grassroots supporters of the party are increasingly concerned about the activities of political jobbers who allegedly maintain suspicious alliances with opposition figures while still claiming loyalty to the APC.
“It is therefore necessary to sound this alarm early,” the group stated.
The group also called on the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and other leaders of the APC in the state not to listen to those it described as promoters of a third-term agenda allegedly being pushed by their paymaster.
APS urged party leaders to remain vigilant and protect the unity and strength of the party in Ajaokuta Federal Constituency while supporting leaders who are delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people.
The group also commended the leadership of the APC in Kogi State for sustaining internal cohesion and promoting inclusive governance, noting that such efforts have contributed to stability within the party.
It further urged party faithful across the constituency to remain united and avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary divisions within the party structure.
APS reiterated that the people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency are politically conscious and would continue to support leaders who demonstrate commitment to development, transparency and effective representation.
The statement added that Hon. Abdulraheem’s performance in the National Assembly has strengthened the confidence of the electorate in democratic governance, urging him to remain focused on delivering more projects and programmes that will uplift the living standards of the people.
