A retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Abutu Yaro (rtd), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold, people-oriented reforms, declaring support for the President’s second-term aspiration.
AIG Yaro made the remarks in an interview with newsmen shortly after the inaugural meeting of the Kogi Progressive Stakeholders Forum (KPSF).
The interview was granted at his Motel 5, Felele, Lokoja, on Wednesday.
He thanked God for blessing Nigeria with purposeful leadership at a critical time in the nation’s history.
“I am most grateful that God has blessed us with a President in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our Commander-in-Chief and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at this time,” Yaro said.
According to him, the decision by the APC supporters’ committee and progressive stakeholders to endorse President Tinubu for a second term was a clear confirmation and applause for the administration’s transformational efforts across key sectors of the economy.
AIG Yaro noted that President Tinubu’s policies are already yielding tangible results, particularly in the areas of industrialization, infrastructure renewal, and economic reforms aimed at long-term national sustainability.
The retired police chief highlighted the Federal Government’s plan to establish four mini-petrochemical plants across Nigeria, explaining that the initiative, launched about a year and a half ago, would strengthen local production, reduce import dependence, and create thousands of jobs for Nigerians.
He also praised President Tinubu for approving a comprehensive review of the long-neglected Abuja–Lokoja highway, describing the project as strategic to national economic growth and regional connectivity.
“For over 15 years, different administrations managed that road with temporary measures. This President reviewed the project and approved solid concrete casting, which will guarantee durability for the next 15 to 20 years,” he stated.
AIG Yaro further observed that the renewed attention to major transport corridors would enhance safety, reduce travel time, and boost commercial activities between the North-Central region and other parts of the country.
He stressed that reforms in the energy and infrastructure sectors demonstrate the administration’s commitment to addressing longstanding challenges through durable and cost-effective solutions rather than short-term fixes.
The retired AIG called on political leaders, traditional rulers, youths, and women in Kogi State to rally behind the Kogi Progressive Stakeholders Forum, noting that unity among progressives remains critical to achieving electoral success and sustaining development.
He emphasized that continuity in leadership would allow Nigerians to fully reap the benefits of policies already initiated, adding that consistent support for the President was necessary to consolidate peace, security, and economic stability nationwide.
AIG Abutu Yaro concluded by urging Nigerians to remain patient and supportive, assuring that the current reforms, though demanding, are designed to secure a stronger and more prosperous future for the country.
