The two-day Protest by the Kogi State Light Up Movement (LUM), has been suspended on Wednesday.
The suspension of the protest came after leaders of the LUM met with representative of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in a meeting on Wednesday at the NUJ press center, Lokoja.
At the end of the meeting, the LUM
agreed to consult with their members on the next step concerning the protest.
The AEDC was represented by its National Public Relations Officer, Mr Segun Omeiza Momoh and the Lokoja Area Manager, Mr Hilary.
The LUM was represented by Iliyasu Zakari, (Chairman), Ibrahim Shuaibu Nuhu (Organizing Secretary) Comrade Mariam Usman, Chairman Artisans Union and other LUM leaders.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the meeting, the LUM chairman said they had a robust discussion with the representative of the AEDC from Abuja.
The LUM leaders said they received a commitment from the Momoh-led meeting that all their demands will be forwarded to the AEDC national headquarters.
According to the LUM chairman, “the suspension is intended to facilitate further discussions after the AEDC had met our crucial demand to address the epileptic power supply.
