The Kogi State branch of the Council of Ulama’u of Nigeria, has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and beyond on the celebration of the new Islamic Year, 1447 AH.
The statement by the Kogi State Council Secretary General, Alhaji Suleiman BabaAngo in Lokoja, yesterday, called on the Muslims to remain God-fearing and committed to the worship of Allah, be law-abiding at all times, peaceful and industrious in spite of the daunting challenges bedeviling the country.
He said: “The Kogi State Branch, Council of Ulama’u of Nigeria happily congratulates the Muslim Ummah for witnessing the dawn of another New Islamic Year 1447H and prays unto Almighty ALLAH to grant us the good in it.
“The Council glorifies Almighty ALLAH for the Gift of unity among the Muslims in the State as well as for the peace and peaceful co-existence among the Muslims and Non-Muslims alike.
“It enjoins the Muslims and everyone to stop and ponder deeply in the countless challenges confronting humanity today in order to retrace our steps and renew our faith in Almighty ALLAH.
“While the Council congratulates the Muslims for witnessing the celebration, it enjoins them to remain law-abiding and call on all the Council Branches in the 21 Local Government Areas, Imams and Islamic Scholars to offer special prayers for Almighty ALLAH’S Intervention in the current hardship faced by the people.
“The Council applauds and appreciates His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmad Usman Ododo, FCNA, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for his sustained support to religious Organisations in the State. The Council prays unto Almighty ALLAH to Guide and Protect him.
“The Council invites the Muslim Ummah and general public in the State to the Islamic New Year Grand Celebration scheduled to hold on Sunday 4th June, 2025 at Muhammadu Buhari Square, Lokoja -Kogi State at 10:00 a.m In Shaa ALLAH,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as the first day of Muharram, marking the beginning of the Islamic New year.
