Ahead of the 2027 general elections, crisis has rocked the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as protesters on Tuesday, pulled down the main gate of the National Secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja.
The protest broke out while the party’s National Working Committee was meeting at the party’s headquarters.
The reason for the protest is still sketchy as of the time of this report.
Meanwhile, NationalWatch Tv reports that journalists present outside the party’s secretariat were assaulted by security operatives attached to the office.
A source told NationalWatch Tv that the crisis is not unconnected to the planned imposition of former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai on the party’s leadership.
Recall that El-Rufai had recently defected to the SDP.
