The Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has organised a special prayer session to seek God’s intervention over the lingering security challenges facing the country, particularly in Kogi West.
The prayer session was held at the Lokoja Central Mosque on Thursday and was attended by the Senator, district heads, clerics and residents of the emirate.
The Chief Imam of the Lokoja emirate, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, led the session with recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed with supplications and intense prayers for leaders and fellow citizens of the country.
While praying for an end to the security challenges in Kogi West, the Imam also prayed for bountiful harvests during this raining season.
“We need to repent to Allah and seek his forgiveness. All these are happening as a result of our habits and wrong doings. May Allah forgive us all,” the Chief Imam said.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the prayers, Senator Karimi, said the prayer session became necessary considering the security challenges in the country and Kogi West in particular.
“We are facing serious security challenges in the country, therefore it is imperative to organise such prayer sessions to seek peace, unity and progress in our nation,” he added.
Senator Karimi stressed that the security issue is a collective responsibility in which all hands must be on deck, “we need to pray and seek peace from Allah, which is paramount”. He said.
According to him, there is a need for citizens to embark on prayer at all times, “insecurity is a source of our concern, we pray that our lost glory of peace and stability in the state return”.
Recall that the Senator also sponsored similar special prayer held at Evangelical Church for All-ECWA.
