The Lokoja All Progressives Congress (APC) Integrity Group
has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the great people of Kogi State as the country marks 25 years of unbroken democratic rule on June 12.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the group to mark this year ‘Democracy Day’, Chairman of the group, Hon. Muhammad Maikudi Yusuf Alabi, said; “This day not only marks a celebration of our enduring democratic governance but also serves as a profound reminder of the tremendous sacrifices made by dedicated patriots throughout our nation’s history—those courageous individuals who laid down their lives in the quest for the freedoms and democratic ideals we, as a nation, now cherish and uphold.
He expresses sincere commendation for President Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to the defence and advancement of Nigeria’s democracy. The President’s steadfast commitment to the principles of democratic values has been pivotal in promoting good governance and fostering a harmonious sense of national unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and cultural groups. His tireless efforts to engage openly with citizens, advocate for transparency, and uphold the rule of law shine as a beacon of hope and resilience. These efforts are indispensable for the sustainable growth and reinforcement of our democratic institutions, nurturing a vibrant participatory culture among the populace.
Furthermore, the Lokoja APC Integrity Group seizes the opportunity to extend its warmest congratulations to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
“In an impressively brief period of just one and half a year, in office, Governor Ododo has demonstrated an exceptional level of commitment and innovative thinking in his governance approach.
“Through the implementation of a series of forward-thinking policies and initiatives, he has showcased his unwavering dedication to enhancing the welfare of the people of Kogi State. His leadership philosophy centres around principles of transparency, inclusiveness, and transformative development, fostering a renewed sense of optimism and confidence among the citizenry”, the group stressed.
The group expresses steadfast confidence that the Governor’s administration will be characterized by pragmatic governance, innovative solutions, and positive change, establishing a compelling model for other leaders to emulate throughout Nigeria.
It urged the Governor not to relent over his urban renewal plan for Lokoja, calling on him to do more on the sanitation of township roads.
In a related development, the Lokoja APC Integrity Group also passed a vote of confidence on Senator Sunday Karimi, Hon. Sulaiman Danladi Aguye, member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, member representing Lokoja 1, Hon. Shehu Tijjani Ebaiya and all elected and political appointees from Lokoja LGA.
In his own remarks, Hon. Umar Bala Haske praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s policies since assuming office, describing them as transformative and people-oriented.
“Governor Ododo’s administration has made significant strides in education by paying over ₦600 million in WAEC fees for 18,000 students across the state. This intervention will go a long way in ensuring that no child is left behind in obtaining secondary school certification due to financial distress.
“Furthermore, the payment of bursary allowances worth more than ₦216 million to over 8,000 tertiary institution students provides much-needed financial relief to young scholars,” he said.
