An elder statesman from Yagba Federal Constituency,” HE Chief Richard Asaje has cried out for urgent attention by the government at all levels to curb the security challenges experiencing in Yagba Federal Constituency, noting that it requires a collective effort from all.
In an interactive session with concerned sons and daughters of Yagba land in his palace at Obajana, Kogi State, he urged the government to step into the state of insecurity in Yagba land, particularly Yagba East and Yagba West LGAs saying that
government is meant to protect her citizens and property.
According to him, addressing insecurity requires a collective effort from all members of the society, including individuals, community leaders, and government officials.
He said everyone has a role to play in promoting peace, reporting suspicious activities, and supporting law enforcement efforts.
Continuing, he stressed that the recurring spate of hapless killings in Yagba land calls for the Federal, State Government and LG Authorities.
“It is disheartening that once again, human life does not matter to some disgruntled elements.
“We implore the government to engage with the community, work with local leaders and community organizations to address the root causes of insecurity and build trust.. The government need to work on our weak security system.
“Our people are dying, people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed.No one is free to go on their legitimate business because of fear of been kidnapped/killed,” he stressed.
He further explained that by working together, individuals, community leaders, and government officials, can create a safer and more secure environment for all.
“Yagba land is so disturbing and worrisome that it needs a concerted effort and cooperation of all stakeholders from the administrators to the operatives,so as to move forward and close the gaps.
Asaje said, “I am from Yagba Federal Constituency that is facing the greatest challenges of our time in terms of insecurity.. The security situation in yagba land is getting out of hands , stressing that it requires the highest level of capacity in intelligence gathering and surveillance to be able to nip the ugly monster in the bud.
A lot of people have come to settle with us and put a stress on our social fabric.. And you can imagine what it is for you to have people that you don’t have records of.. to some extent.. We need the support of the government , as we all know that His Excellency , Alhaji Usman Ododo is a man that is security conscious.
It is time for the Government at all levels to start prosecuting culprits caught for kidnapping, killing and other crimes.
The heavy weight of the law needs to be visited on them, by so doing, the rest of them will be deterred from commiting the offences, he concluded.
