The Newlayout Football Club, Lokoja has emerged champions of the sixth edition of Abubakar Ola Foundation Ramadan Unity Cup.
Newlayout Football FC won the cup after defeating Color Football Club by two goals to one in the final match, which took place at Al-Ansar Secondary School the on Sunday.
In his remarks, the sponsor of the tournament and a philanthropist, Alhaji Zakari Abubakar Ola, said the tournament was initiated to unite the people of the local government area.
He said he is committed to promoting sporting activities in Lokoja local government area, adding that he will make the tournament more competitive and bigger next year.
According to him, “This tournament is to promote unity among the streets in Lokoja. We will expand this competition in order to discover more stars amongst the youth of Lokoja.”
He further presented prizes to the best referee, best spectator, best behave team, best goalkeeper, highest goals scorer as well as most valuable player.
Recall that Zakari, during the just concluded Ramadan fast, on a daily basis, cater for more than 3,000 people. He fed them till the end of Ramadan.
