Ahead of the Eid El-Fitr celebration, the Musa Nasidi Masjid Foundation (MNMF) has distributed clothes to 60 orphans and foodstuff to 20 widows in Lokoja the Kogi State capital, as part of its support programme for the less privilege ahead of the upcoming Eid-al-fitr.
Speaking during the distribution of the items at late Musa Nasidi Mosque, Lokoja on Saturday, the representative of Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Gwadobe, said that the gesture came at a time majority of our people in Lokoja were finding it hard to provide food for their families.
The traditional ruler urged other indigenes of Lokoja to emulate the family and extend their hands of support to the less privileged people in the society, so as to alleviate their sufferings.
He explained that the wealth bestowed on individuals by Almighty Allah is meant to be shared and not hoarded.
The Maigari of Lokoja therefore stressed the need for rich Lokojian to always assist the less privileged brothers and sisters.
He also called on Lokojians at home and in the Diaspora to be united for the development of the area.
“It is only when the people of the chiefdom are united that we can forge ahead and foster the socio-economic development of our local government, Kogi State and indeed Nigeria.
“We must all unite to bring speedy development to Lokoja local Government area, and to as well attract good things to the area,” he said.
Delivering a keynote address, representative of the MNMF, Alhaji Musa Tanimu Nasidi said the aim of the foundation was to render educational, trade and humanitarian supports to orphans, widows and jobless youths of the community.
While congratulating the Maigari of Lokoja on his one year anniversary on the throne, Nasidi commended him for his immense contribution to the growth and development of Lokoja local Government Area.
He said: “Your Royal Highness, I want to thank you for sending a representative to our yearly programme and we appreciate you for the royal blessing”.
He explained that Musa Nasidi Masjid Foundation was aimed at improving the well-being of the less privileged, vulnerable and widows in Lokoja for them to cushion the hardship in the state and country.
He disclosed that this is the fifth edition of the MNMF Sallah distribution of Palliatives to orphans, widows and the vulnerable persons.
Highlight of the event was lecture, on the significant of Sadakat, delivered by Ustaz Muhammed Aliyu Nayashi.
