The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), youths, on Sunday, staged a solidarity walk to the State Government House in Lokoja, to felicitate with the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his one year in office.

The youths who embarked on the walk from the Obasanjo Square roundabout in Lokoja said the decision to publicly identify and support the Governor was on account of his numerous laudable initiatives.

They praised Ododo’s commitment to scaling up the participation of youths  in politics, adding that the percentage under Ododo’s administration was unprecedented.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, the APC state youth leader, Hon. Muhammad Muhammad, said the solidarity walk was a bold statement by youths to appreciate Ododo for setting remarkable leadership examples.

He appreciated Ododo for giving youths sense of belonging in his government by appointing them into key governmental positions.

He further described him as a game changer and transformer who is busy changing and transforming Kogi State for better.

The APC youth leader appealed to the governor for a more opportunity for the youths.

She said: “We are here to applaud and appreciate the good works of our Governor in every facet of our dear State. We are also using this medium to make a statement that we appreciate your kindness to the youths in Kogi.

“We are particularly grateful for the young men and women you have given the chance to serve in administrative capacities across different strata of governance; this is unprecedented. Youths haven’t been given this kind of opportunity in governance in previous years,” Muhammad said.

In his response, Governor Ododo commended the ‘APC Youths’ for their efforts, saying that their expression of faith in his administration was a call to do more.

Ododo, who paid glowing tributes to the women group, assured that women would be given greater visibility in politics going forward. Adding that they can expect to have between 30 and 35 percent of political appointments across different levels.

Ododo reiterated that his administration was established by God and that whatever good works people see and appreciate were not man-made but God-inspired.

He, therefore, called for more support  and cooperation, assuring that his administration was willing and ready to do more for the people.
