A Socio-Cultural Organization in Lokoja, the Lokoja Forum of Patriots (LFP), has said that there is no traditional ruler with the title of Etsu Lokoja or Etsu Nupe Lokoja.
Addressing a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday, Chairman of the Lokoja Forum of Patriots, Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango downed Emmanuel Dauda Shelika, who recently proclaimed himself as traditional ruler with the title of “Etsu Lokoja or Etsu Nupe Lokoja” stressing that he appointed himself.
Baba’Ango said: “the forum wish to state that there was never a time in the history of Lokoja that we have Etsu as the Chief of Lokoja.
“Today we have Etsu of Adankolo who is in charge of community that form part of Lokoja. The big question that comes to mind is that can we have two Etsu in one community? The answer is no.
“Therefore, we wish to appeal to Mr Emmanuel Shelika to do away with his desire and attempt to acquire the throne of Etsu Nupe Lokoja which never existed in the history of Lokoja.
“We also wish to call on the Executive Chairman of Lokoja LGA and the state government to address this case with urgent attention, as we cannot have Maigari of Lokoja and have Etsu of Lokoja.
The LFP chairman who said that the good people of Lokoja have been living together peacefully and enjoying a very good relationship over time stressed that they cannot afford to loss such.
He therefore called on Lokoja s to continue to sustain the peace they are known for.
