The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has assured flood victims in Kogi State of adequate Federal Government’s support.
Doctor Dele Onimode, who led the NEMA team gave the assurance in Adankolo IDP camp when the team visited the State for an on-the-spot assessment of the flood disaster in the state.
He assured the victims of urgent Federal Government intervention.
This is as the flood victims in Adankolo IDP camp decried poor conditions of holding camps provided for them by the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.
According to them, close to three days since they moved into the camp, the supervising agencies like SEMA yet to bring food, forcing them to feed once a day through individual donations.
They said they were helpless as the assistance promised by the state government in its sensitisation messages had yet to materialize.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Muktar Attima, who was in company of the NEMA team said it was making arrangement to assist those affected by the flood in the State.
“Why we have not started supplying relief materials to the victims is because we have not completed the documentation and registration of the victims.
He promised that as soon as that is done, actions would be taken to alleviate their sufferings in the camps.
Attima told the IDPs, particularly children and women, who are the most vulnerable, that the state government was aware of their pains.
He commended the National Emergency Management Agency team for their visit.
