The Lokoja Local Government Chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for the Kog State October 19 LG election, Yakubu Yunusa Chado, has vowed to overhaul the education system of the area if elected into office.
The PDP chairmanship candidate made the promise while speaking to Nationalwatch Tv on his programme for Lokoja LGA at the local government party secretariat in Lokoja on Friday.
He lamented that many schools in the rural areas were in deplorable conditions, even as he pledged to restore the glory of the schools built by former governor Ibrahim Idris, which he described as a disaster..
“We would review the education curriculum so that technology will become a major part of it. Any child not taught technology in today’s world will become a functional illiterate.”
He said: “I will particularly focus on teachers’ welfare during my administration if elected as chairman.
The PDP flagbearer who promised that more qualified teachers would be employed, lamented that many primary schools in the rural areas have been closed for over nine years.
He said that he was also aware that the people of the local government had lots of expectations from him, promising that he would do everything humanly possible to live above board and ensure that he did his best to satisfy their needs.
Chado further said his administration would put the people at the centre of governance because they (The people) have been taken out of the government equation.
