LFP Set To Host Lokoja Annual Boat Regatta, To Showcase Cultural Endowments

The Lokoja Forum of Patriots (LFP), is set to host the fifth edition of Lokoja  Boat Regatta.

The festival, which commenced in 2017, has become an annual event, during which communities showcases their cultural endowments to the outside world.

The LFP Chairman, Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango, disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting held at Lokoja Local Government Council Hall on Tuesday.

Baba’Ango assured tourists and Lokoja residents of adequate security during the 2024 Lokoja Boat Regatta scheduled soon.

The LFP Chairman explained that the 2024 Boat Regatta would afford communities to showcase their talents, products and services to the world.

He advised community leaders to embark on talent hunts saying thousands of talents are abound in rural areas.

“Lokoja Boat Regatta was established to project and exhibit talented individuals at the grassroots, in a bid to bring Lokoja on the map of global culture.

“We are inviting visitors from all over Africa and beyond. These fellows are not just coming as tourists, but to see what our people are capable of doing with their talents so that they can invest and take the products beyond the borders of Kogi and Nigeria,” he said.

Baba’Ango further said that Lokoja Boat Regatta started in 2016, saying it is an annual event which promotes economy of the state.

He hinted on the activities for the festival, to include: competitive events such as: performing Art, Visual Art, fashion Art, creative art, traditional wrestling, street carnival, among others.
