A Lokoja Local Government Chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Idris Abdulrahman Sofada, has said his exploits during the 2023 governorship election gives him an edge over the other aspirants, ahead of the primaries.
He stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after his screening at the SDP state secretariat on Saturday.
Sofada who was the first to be screened said; “It gives me confidence going into the field,” he said, citing how he traversed the entire Lokoja local government area with the SDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka ahead of the 2023 senatorial election, canvassing the people and meeting party members.
He explained that his contribution to the party puts him at an edge over the other aspirants because the party knows that members are yearning for a dedicated politician like him.
“The party is looking for somebody that is trusted, and somebody that can mix with all interests within the party,” he said.
On his plans for Lokoja LGA, Sofada
said if elected as the Council Chairman, some of his priorities include opening of feeder roads in the rural communities to enable the farmers transport their farm produce to the urban city, provision of electricity and empowering the youth and women.
He said he would also imbibe and create a culture of transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, the Lokoja local government chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Friday began the screening of its 7 aspirants for the October 19, 2024, Chairmanship election.
The screening, under the Chairmanship of former House of Assembly member, Hon. Danladi Bababudan, is being held at the state SDP secretariat, Lokoja.
