Ahead of the forthcoming Local Government elections in Kogi State, the consensus candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Lokoja Local Government Council, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has picked his expression of interest and nomination forms.
Adamu, who is the immediate past Local Government Transition Committee Chairman picked the forms at the APC Secretariat, in Lokoja on Monday, amidst jubilation.
Addressing his supporters shortly after picking the forms, Comrade Adamu, who was deeply overwhelmed, appreciated the people of Lokoja Local Government Area for finding him worthy to serve in that capacity and also thanked the party leaders for their support.
Speaking further, Adamu expressed his readiness to visit all the communities in the council area and sort out its individual problems and ensure massive transformation and development of the council if elected.
He pledged to run an open door policy and all inclusive administration which is aimed at carrying everybody along and solicited the support of stakeholders and indeed the good people of the Local Government Area to move the council forward.
On his part, the APC leader in Lokoja 11 State Constituency, Alhaji Akoriko Adoga described Comrade Abdullahi Adamu as a simple, accessible, tested and trusted politician who has distinguished himself among his equals and urged him to employ his wealth of knowledge in his leadership for the good and overall development of the council.
The APC leader who advocated that equity, justice and fairness be maintained as regards to Councilorship positions, thanked the party members for their support.
Earlier, the Chairman of APC in Lokoja Local Government Council, Alhaji Maikudi Bature enjoined the people of the Local Government Area who are of the voting age to massively vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming election.
He prayed God to give the incoming chairman wisdom and strength to take the council to the greater height, adding that it is only Comrade Abdullahi Adamu that would consolidate the good works of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in the State.
Lending his voice, the member representing Lokoja 1 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Shehu Tijjani Ebaiya, called on Lokoja LGA people to give their necessary supports to the APC Chairmanship candidate, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, whom he described as man of good will and detribalized politician who has invested much on the people when he was the local government transition committee chairman.
He advised all and sundry to queue behind him to enable him win.
Other speakers maintained that the choice of Comrade Abdullahi Adamu becoming the next LGA Chairman remains sacrosanct as he is eminently qualified to take mantle of leadership of the local government area.
They added that the endorsement of Adamu by the APC critical stakeholders is a dream shared by all.
Recall that the Kogi State Independent National Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has scheduled October 19 for the conduct of the local government council election.
