Accolades As St. Mary UBE Secondary School Holds 13th Graduation, Valedictory Service

Graduating students and alumni of the St. Mary Universal Basic Education Junior Secondary School in Lokoja were presented with different prizes for their outstanding performances at the school’s 13th valedictory service and graduation ceremony on Saturday.

The venue of the ceremony, was a sight to behold as parents, students and staff of the institution, including members of its Parents Teachers Association (PTA), were gaily dressed in different eye-catching outfits.

Delivering his opening remarks at the event, the Principal of the school, Mallam Ahmed Isah, thanked all those who graced the occasion, and congratulated the graduating students.

This was even as he charged them to continue making the school proud as they strive for excellence in academics, and behaviour worthy of emulation.

He said, “Be ambassadors. And, you must always carry the school high in character and learning.”

“I inherited a block of uncompleted building with a staff room and an office and all efforts and appeals to individuals in the community including the parents have not yielded result.

“I wish to use this gathering today to appeal to individuals/cooperate body  for assistance to help bring the project to a completion. If completed, the building will serve as administrative block for the school,” the principal appealed.

In his address, Chairman of the occasion, Ustaz Isa Usman urged the graduating students to be resilient in their pursuit of excellence.

He said, “The school has given you the tools to be great. Leadership is not a title, but a mindset which I’ve seen that this school has offered you.”

The Chairman, who donated a token for the school administrative building project called of parents to assist the school financially to enable it completed the building project.

In his own remarks, the local government education secretary, Mallam Danladi Yakubu, prayed for the graduating students.

He charged the school teachers to be dedicated to their duties, saying that it is through the teachers hard work that the institution will record success.

Highlights of the ceremony include; presentation of awards of academic excellence to students, cultural dance and lecture delivered by the NUT Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Modibbo Umar.
