Okada Riders Election: There’ll Be No Imposition Of Candidates – NMTU State Sec Assures Members

The Kogi State Secretary of the Nigeria Motorcycle Transport Union (NMTU), Umar Anas Okpahi has said there will be no imposition of candidates in the forthcoming election of Lokoja local government branch of the union.

Okpahi made the declaration at the Lokoja Local Government branch of the NMTU stakeholders meeting held at the union Secretariat on Wednesday.

He said the credential committee has concluded the screening of all the candidates vying for elective positions assuring that the election would hold on Saturday, June 8 as scheduled.

“Only popular candidates that the people love and generally accepted by all stakeholders, will emerge as candidates for the union.

“No politician has ever call on any of us to say this or that are their candidates. All you are hearing are just rumors being peddled by some members of the union.

According to Okpayi, only six aspirants are vying for the position of chairman.

On his own part, the outgoing chairman of the union who is also an aspirant, Comrade Musa Baba Aliyu a.k.a Babaguguru assured that the election would be free and fair.

He said all the aspirants in the last stakeholders meeting had agreed that they would accept the outcome of the results.

Aliyu called on other aspirants to cooperate with the electoral body.

In his remarks, one of the chairmanship candidates, Alhaji Aliyu Maiyaki called for peaceful conduct of members during and after the election.

He said; “my aspiration is not a do or die affairs. I strongly believe in destiny. Is only God that gives power to whoever He wishes.

Maiyaki further commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his developmental stride, calling on Kogites to give the governor maximum support so as to enable him do more.
