… As Nigerian Police Disperse Pro-Bello’s protesters in Abuja

The Kogi Conscience Libration Movement (KCLM), has called on the Economic Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, to arrest the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Speaking on Monday at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, spokesman of the KCLM, Mr. Austin Okai, the group frowned at the former Governor’s disregard for the rule of law including evasion of a lawful arrest, describing it as regrettable, disgraceful and embarrassing.
According to Okai, “as a former Governor, we expected some degree of decorum and respect for the rule of law from him. The recent confrontation between the EFCC and Governor Yahaya Bello at his Abuja residence is a regrettable episode that is an embarrassment to Kogi people and Nigerians at large. We unequivocally condemn the former Governor’s conduct and insist that justice must take its course.
Responding, the EFCC boss, Ola Olukoyede thanked the protesters for supporting the Commission.
He assured that Bello will be arrested and be brought to face justice.
“Thank you very much for coming to identify with the work of the EFCC. I am also happy to see the citizens of Kogi State that are concerned on how their resources are being used.
“I want to assure you all, with the permission of the Chairman, that this matter will not be swept under the carpet because it is not a personal matter. We just have to enforce the law.
“We are not concerned about the renting crowds by Yahaya Bello for protest. We are surely going to arrest him.
In a related development, some Kogi youths who were at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja on Monday, to protest the political persecution of the immediate past Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, were attacked by operatives of the Commission.
According to the pro-Yahaya Bello group, there were two protests at the EFCC headquarters on Monday. While the other protest, organised by members of the opposition party in the state, in support of the EFCC was allowed to go peacefully, the other, which demanded that the rule of law be respected, was attacked.
Videos of the protesters struggling to make their statements while being harassed and reporters running after them flooded the social media on Monday, with a picture of a badly damaged vehicle.
