RAMADAN: Kogi Muslim Media Practitioners Host Iftar For Members

The Kogi State chapter of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), has hosted it’s members to breaking of fast (Iftar) and lecture.

Speaking at the event held at NTA premises on Friday evening, Kogi State Chairman of the MMPN, Alhaji Muhammed Abdulsalam, said: “This holy month of Ramadan is very important to our Muslim brothers, I therefore call on them to use this opportunity to pray for the security, unity and development of the state”.

He thanked members for honouring the invitation despite short notice.

In his own remarks, chairman of the occasion, the Kogi State General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Alhaji Yahaya Adams, advised media practitioners in the state to imbibe the spirit of propagating Islam through their various media outfits, saying that whichever platform or medium used should be utilized to contribute to the advancement and growth of Islam.

The General Manager enjoined the leadership and members of Kogi State Chapter of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) on the need for them to project the true Islamic message devoid of anything that would cause disaffection among members of the public.

He noted that Islam encourages truthfulness, fairness, objectivity, and dedication to work irrespective of the profession an individual finds himself, stressing that Allah would reward a believer only when he uses his profession and talent to promote unity and brotherliness in the society.

Adams used the occasion to pray for the late General Manager Corporate Affairs, National Inland Waterways Authority NIWA, Alhaji Jibril Dar’dau who died on Friday after a brief illness.

He described late Dar’dau as a philanthropist that has helped orphans and widows in Kogi State.

The NTA General Manager therefore expressed appreciation to the association for embarking on such lectures and iftar.

Highlight of the event was lecture on significant of breaking Ramadan fast delivered by Barrister Abubakar Najirgi.
