The Caretaker Chairman of Ijumu local government area of Kogi State, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, on Saturday, paid a condolence visit to the Commissioner of Solid Minerals, Engr Abubakar Bashir-Gegu, whose father, Imam Abubakar Umar Gegu passed on last Wednesday.
During the visits at Gegu-Beki, Kogi LGA, Ibrahim commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.
He described the late Imam Abubakar Umar Gegu as a patriotic Kogite who contributed immensely to the development of the state in various capacities.
According to him, the loss of such great minds is not only a loss to their families but also to the entire state.
He, however, urged the family to take solace in the fact that their loved ones lived exemplary lives and left indelible marks in the sands of time.
He said, “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Imam Abubakar Umar Gegu. He was a great Kogite who made remarkable contributions to the development of our dear state. He will be greatly missed.”
He added, “We pray that the Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and give his families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
On his plans for Ijumu LGA, the Chairman said that his administration is determined to pursue policies of fair play and even development of the council.
