The fidau (three-day) prayer for late Lokoja LG Education Secretary, Abdulmalik Ndagi Kassim, who died on February 8, aged 52, was held on Sunday at his Lokongoma residence in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr Muhammed Danladi Yahaya, Kogi State Secretary, Council of Ulama’u, Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango and other dignitaries were present at the prayer.
The Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban, admonished politicians and all to imbibe the good deeds of the late educationist.
Shaban said the contributions of the late Education Secretary to the development of the state would not be forgotten.
The Chief Imam also called on the people of the state to use the prayer as avenue to readjust their ways and live up to the expectations of the masses.
Shaban, who noted that death is inevitable, urged those at the event to reflect on their lifestyles.
Also, the Secretary of the League of Alfas’ and Imams in Niger State, Nurudeen Abdallah, prayed for the repose of the late Education Secretary.
Abdullah urged those who attended the event to remember that death is inevitable for everyone.
He described late Kassim as an icon in the state whose landmark achievements would forever be remembered.
In his own remarks, the National PRO Nigeria Correctional Service, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, said that Kassim’s painful exit was a shock to Lokoja Local Government and the state.
Mr. Kassim, who died on February 8, night was buried on February 9 at the Hangwan-Kura Muslim cemetery.
Before his death, he was the Lokoja local government Education Secretary.
