The Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, Engr. Dr. Faruk Muhammad Kakanda, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Nyiwon of Gegu-Beki, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Alhassan, and observed Jumaat prayer at the newly commissioned Gegu-Beki Central Mosque.

The Agankyu, accompanied by members of his entourage, said his visit to the Nyiwon’s palace was prompted by his absence during the official commissioning of the mosque last week.

Speaking at the palace, the royal father said Kakanda Kingdom and Gegu-Beki Chiefdom had maintained a longstanding relationship, stressing the need to continue strengthening the bond between the two traditional institutions.

He also expressed appreciation to the Nyiwon, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Alhassan, for the important role he played during his screening as Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom.

Responding, the Nyiwon thanked the Agankyu for the visit and reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between Gegu-Beki Chiefdom and Kakanda Kingdom.

He pledged to sustain the relationship, while also appreciating members of the Agankyu’s entourage for accompanying the royal father.

The Nyiwon offered prayers for the Agankyu and his entourage before the two royal fathers, together with members of the entourage, trekked from the palace to the newly commissioned mosque to observe the Jumaat prayer.

After the Jumaat prayer, the Agankyu and his entourage proceeded to the residence of the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engr. Abubakar Bashir-Gegu, who facilitated the construction of the mosque.

The Agankyu was received at the Commissioner’s residence by one of his aides, Abubakar Usman Babaohi.

From Gegu-Beki, the Agankyu proceeded to Koton-Karfi, where he paid a courtesy call on the Ohimegye Igu of Koton-Karfi, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu.

The visits formed part of the Agankyu’s efforts to strengthen traditional ties, foster unity and deepen relationships among traditional institutions across the area.
