Friends and well-wishers of Miss Zainab Lilichi Abu on Friday organized a colourful Bassa-Nge Day celebration in Lokoja ahead of her wedding Fatiha to Dr. Nda Tim Diche, scheduled to take place on Saturday.
The event attracted family members, friends, associates, and dignitaries from different walks of life who gathered to celebrate the bride and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Bassa-Nge people.
The groom, Dr. Nda Tim Diche, was also present and joined guests in the festivities.
The occasion featured a vibrant display of Bassa-Nge traditions, with participants dressed in beautifully designed cultural attire that reflected the identity and values of the ethnic group.
Traditional music, cultural dances, and entertaining performances created a lively atmosphere and added colour to the celebration.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Diche expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.
He thanked friends, relatives, and supporters for their encouragement and goodwill as he and his bride prepare to begin their journey in marriage.
He announced that the wedding Fatiha between him and Miss Zainab Lilichi Abu will take place at Adankolo New Layout, Lokoja, by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the reception will hold at Idrinana Hotel Hall, Lokoja, by 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
The highlight of the celebration was the captivating traditional dance performances by friends of the bride and members of her family, who thrilled guests with energetic displays and cultural renditions that kept the audience entertained throughout the event.
Guests described the Bassa-Nge Day celebration as a fitting prelude to the wedding ceremony, noting that it not only honoured the bride’s cultural roots but also provided an avenue for loved ones to come together in unity and celebration ahead of the marriage.
Several speakers at the event offered prayers for the couple, wishing them a peaceful wedding ceremony, a successful union, and a marriage filled with love, prosperity, and mutual understanding.
Dr. Nda Tim Diche, is APC cheiftain in Kogi state. He was a senatorial aspirant for Kogi East in the just concluded primary election.
The atmosphere remained joyous until the close of the event as guests exchanged pleasantries, took photographs, and shared in the excitement surrounding the forthcoming wedding, making the celebration a memorable occasion for both families and their friends.
