The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, urging citizens to remain committed to the ideals of democratic governance, national unity, and sustainable development.
In a Democracy Day message released on Thursday, Senator Karimi described the celebration as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey, acknowledge the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, and renew collective commitment to building a better future for all.
According to the lawmaker, Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the progress the country has made over the years in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting good governance.
He noted that the sacrifices of past leaders and democracy advocates should inspire Nigerians to continue working together in peace and unity for the advancement of the nation.
Senator Karimi expressed optimism that Nigeria’s democracy would continue to deliver peace, prosperity, and greater opportunities for citizens across the country.
The Kogi West senator also called on Nigerians to uphold democratic values, support efforts aimed at national development, and contribute positively to the growth of their communities.
“As we celebrate our nation’s democratic journey and the progress we have made, let us honour the sacrifices of our forebears and recommit ourselves to building a better future for all Nigerians,” he stated.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration, reaffirming his commitment to effective representation and the pursuit of policies that would enhance the welfare of the people of Kogi West and the nation at large.
Democracy Day is celebrated annually on June 12 to commemorate Nigeria’s democratic evolution and honour those who played significant roles in the struggle for democratic governance.
