A political group in Kogi West has declared that the outcome of ongoing online opinion polls has further discredited the endorsement of Hon. Sam Aro by some self-acclaimed stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district.
The group, under the umbrella of Concerned Kogi West Progressives, said the online voting results clearly show that the lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Sunday Karimi, remains the most popular and widely accepted political figure in the district.
In a statement signed by the group’s coordinator, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, on Thursday, the group stated that Senator Karimi’s lead in the online polls is a reflection of the true feelings of the people and not the “arranged endorsements” by a few individuals.
According to the statement, “The online voting currently trending across different platforms has once again confirmed that Senator Sunday Karimi enjoys massive support from party members and the electorate across Kogi West.”
The group argued that the endorsement of Sam Aro by some APC stakeholders lacked credibility and did not represent the wishes of the majority of party faithful in the district.
“It is now obvious that those who gathered to endorse Sam Aro are acting on personal interests and not on behalf of the people. If truly they have the support of the masses, the online polls would have reflected it,” the statement added.
The group further praised Senator Karimi for what it described as impactful representation, empowerment programmes, and developmental projects across the seven local government areas of Kogi West.
According to the group, Senator Karimi has continued to distinguish himself through regular engagement with constituents, youth empowerment initiatives, educational support programmes, and infrastructure interventions that have directly benefited communities across the senatorial district.
The statement noted that many youths and women in Kogi West have continued to identify with the senator because of his accessibility and willingness to listen to the concerns of ordinary people.
“Senator Karimi has remained close to the grassroots. His leadership style, performance, and commitment to the welfare of the people have made him a household name across Kogi West,” the statement said.
The group also commended the senator for attracting federal presence and giving priority to community development, stressing that his representation has restored confidence among constituents who desire quality leadership and effective representation.
It added that the growing support being witnessed online and across communities in the district is a sign that the people are determined to reward performance, loyalty, and dedication to public service.
The group urged APC members to remain united and continue supporting leaders with proven records of service and commitment to the development of the district.
The statement also called on the leadership of the APC to ensure a transparent and fair primary process that would give all aspirants equal opportunity to test their popularity before party members.
It expressed confidence that Senator Karimi would continue to enjoy the support of the masses ahead of future political contests in the district due to what it described as his “visible achievements and people-oriented leadership.
