The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has officially assumed duty.
Sanusi, who becomes the 35th Commissioner of Police of the FCT Command, takes over from his predecessor, Miller Dantawaye, who has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Addressing officers and men of the command, the new Commissioner of Police warned against misconduct, unprofessional behaviour, and acts capable of undermining public trust.
He stressed the need for discipline, dedication, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
He further urged personnel to remain committed to intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime prevention strategies to ensure the safety of residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
Sanusi also emphasised the importance of community policing, calling on officers to build stronger relationships with residents and community leaders to enhance information gathering and cooperation.
The Commissioner reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that officers found wanting in the line of duty would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He also pledged to improve operational efficiency within the command through capacity building, regular training, and effective deployment of personnel and resources.
Sanusi assured residents of his readiness to work collaboratively with other security agencies and stakeholders to tackle crime and maintain peace across the FCT.
